“And God shall wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
Donald David Carr, was born in Duplin County, North Carolina, on January 16, 1948 to the late Henry B. and Macie Williams Carr. He was reared in a hardworking, Christian family with two other siblings.
“D.D.”, as he was fondly called, was educated in the Duplin County Public School System and graduated in 1966 from Charity High School in Rose Hill, North Carolina. After high school, D.D. served his country in the United States Military. He received an honorable discharge along with a National Defense and Sharpshooter Medal. After his military stint, D.D. was employed with General Electric in Castle Hayne for thirty-eight years as a machinist, until his retirement.
In August 1977, D.D. was united in holy matrimony to Carolyn Boney. This union was blessed with over forty-seven years of love and unity. They were also blessed with two children, Avis and David.
At an early age, D. D. attended First Baptist Charity Church in Rose Hill. He also attended Island Creek AME Church along with his wife and family. D.D. was always helpful in supporting the church in any way with donations. Some of his hobbies were restoring old cars and working in his immaculate yard. He had a jovial spirit which meant he never met a stranger.
There comes a time for each of us to leave this earthly world. On Thursday afternoon, July 3, 2025, our beloved, Donald David Carr, transitioned from this world to his eternal resting place while at his home in Rose Hill, North Carolina. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Though his passing has left a lonely place in our hearts, we are consoled by the countless memories of our loved one and graciously submit to God’s will.
Left to cherish his precious memories are his wife, Carolyn Boney Carr of Rose Hill, NC; two children: David Carr (Michele) of Raleigh, NC and Avis Carr-Jarmon (Jeremy) of Louisville, KY; siblings: James L. Carr and Doris F. Carr-Cross (Darryl) both of Durham, NC; two grandchildren: David O. Carr and Jeremiah Jarmon; five sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law: a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that will miss him dearly.
I am at peace; my soul is at rest.
There is no need for tears.
For with your love, I was so blessed
For all those many years.
