Lawrence “Shot” McCray Hayes

Mr. Lawrence McCray Hayes, age 80, affectionately known by many as “Shot” of Magnolia, NC formerly of Ivanhoe, NC peacefully Transitioned into Eternal Rest on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington, NC. He is survived by his life time friend, Mary Rose Vann-Hayes; eleven children: Marlyn Hayes Harper (Johnny) of Willard, Gail Hayes Lane (Anthony) of Magnolia, Yvonne Robinson (Warren, Sr.) of Harrells, Vanessa Hayes of Philadelphia, PA, Marvin Chambliss of Pittsburg, PA, Peggy Kerr of Roseboro, Lawrence Hayes of Orangeburg, SC, Shavell Williams Wiley (Dawon), Sharnaa Williams, Shamal Williams, all of Jersey City, NJ and Kaydence Wright of Magnolia; five sisters: Lillian Imes of Ivanhoe, Minnie Robinson (Allen) of Harrells, Gennell DeVane of Roseboro, Lois Hayes of Walterboro, SC and Margaret Williams of Patterson, NJ; daughter-in-law, Valerie Rich of Durham, sister-in-law, Annie Ruth Hayes of Willard; sixteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends that will miss him dearly. Homegoing Celebration of his life will be 2:00 pm Saturday, February 22, 2020, at Rose Hill Funeral Home Chapel, 472 Wells Town Road, Rose Hill, NC. Rev. Harris Wallace, officiating. Interment will follow in the Jumping Run Cemetery, Ivanhoe, NC. A viewing for relatives and friends will be 1:00 pm to 1:50 pm Saturday, February 22, 2020, at Rose Hill Funeral Home, 472 Wells Town Road, Rose Hill, NC one hour prior to the service.
