Mildred Mathis Williams

Mrs. Mildred Mathis Williams, age 79, of Fayetteville, NC, formerly of Duplin County, passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2023, in Accokeek, MD, at the home of her daughter.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 23, 2023, from 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm at Rockfish AME Church, 167 Cornwallis Road in Teachey, NC, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Duplin Memorial Gardens in Teachey, NC. 

Mildred was preceded in death by her loving husband, Willie K. Williams; her good friend: Frank Williams; her devoted sister: Frankie Mathis Spencer; her baby brother: Cleveland Mathis; her Sister-In-Law: Yvonne Mathis, her Brothers-In-Law: Tyrone Vaughn, Harrison Degree, and Tim James; her nephews: Malcom and Pierre Mathis, & Delonte Fennell; her Mother-In-Law: Rosa James (FIL – William James). 

She leaves to blossom, her two beloved children: Ricky R. Williams (loving DIL, Sherri) and Constance R. Cheeks (extremely devoted SIL, Robert); her granddaughters: Tiara McCallum and Aliya Harris; her grandsons: Darius Wright, Austin Harris, and Nicolas Cheeks; her great-grandsons: Landyn and Lenox. Her siblings: Mary “Jackie” Teachey (Earl), Mable Chasten (Russell), Virginia Vaughn, Robert Mathis, Geraldine Mason (Erskine), James Mathis (Deborah), sister-daughter - Diane Bishop (Nate), brother-son- Randy Mathis, Debbie Degree; and her Sister-In-Law: Janice James. Lastly, she leaves her only remaining maternal aunt: Florence Love.; a host of nieces, nephews and friends that will miss her dearly.
